Something to talk about
Everyday questions to ask your partner
Questions that get past "fine" without turning dinner into an interview. Light ones, warm ones, and a few for the nights you have time.
Two people who share a home can go weeks talking only about logistics: who's picking up what, which bill is due, what's for dinner. None of that is wrong. It just isn't the whole of you. One good question a day is an easy way back to the rest.
Light ones, for any night
- What was the best ten minutes of your day?
- What's something small you're looking forward to this week?
- If tomorrow were a free day, what would you do with it?
- What's a song you've had in your head lately?
- What made you laugh today?
Warm ones, for feeling close
- When did you feel most like a team with me recently?
- What's one thing I do that makes your day easier?
- What's a memory of us you come back to?
- Is there something you'd like more of from me this week?
Bigger ones, for when you have time
- Where do you want us to be in five years? What does an ordinary day look like there?
- What's something you've always wanted to try, and never said out loud?
- What did your family do well that you'd like us to keep?
- What's one dream we could start on, even a little, this year?
How to ask so it lands
Ask one, not five. Ask when neither of you is mid-task. Answer it yourself too, because a question you also answer is a conversation, and a question you only ask is an interview. And let a short answer be enough. Some nights "the coffee this morning" is the whole story, and that's fine.
A question you both answer is a conversation. A question only one of you answers is an interview.
Where CoupleChord fits
CoupleChord is a private daily check-in for the two of you. A few quick sliders, about ten seconds, and you see how your person really is. When you've both checked in, today opens side by side. No feed, no followers, no noise.
It's on Android in early access, and iPhone is on the way.
CoupleChord also asks the two of you one question a day, and each of you sees the other's answer once you've both answered.
