CoupleChord Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, downloading, installing, or using CoupleChord ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

CoupleChord is a mobile app for couples that provides:

• A daily check-in and streak shared between you and your partner
• Energy and mood sharing between connected partners
• Private messaging, love notes, and shared journal entries between partners
• Shared tasks, goals, rituals, and relationship milestones
• "Thinking of you" notifications between partners
• AI-generated coaching suggestions based on the information you share

The Service is currently free while in beta. If paid features are introduced in the future, these Terms will be updated and you will be asked to accept the changes before being charged anything.

3. Eligibility and Account Requirements

To use CoupleChord, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration
• Maintain the security and confidentiality of your account credentials
• Accept full responsibility for all activities under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

4. Partner Connection and Data Sharing

CoupleChord facilitates data sharing between romantic partners. By using partner connection features:

• You consent to sharing your check-ins, energy levels, notes, messages, and shared content with your connected partner
• You are responsible for obtaining your partner's consent before connecting accounts
• Either partner may disconnect at any time, which stops all future data sharing and further contact through the app; reconnecting requires both partners to agree again

5. AI Coaching and Content Disclaimers

Our AI coaching features provide relationship insights and suggestions based on your input. Important disclaimers:

• AI coaching is not a substitute for professional therapy or counseling
• Insights are generated by AI models and may not be appropriate for all situations
• We recommend consulting qualified professionals for serious relationship issues
• CoupleChord is not liable for decisions made based on AI suggestions
• If you're experiencing domestic violence or abuse, please contact appropriate authorities or a local support service

6. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to violate any laws
• Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users
• Upload content that is obscene, defamatory, or violates intellectual property rights
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Use automated tools to access the Service without permission
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Create fake accounts or impersonate others
• Interfere with the proper functioning of the Service

7. User Content and Intellectual Property

Regarding content you submit to CoupleChord:

• You retain ownership of your personal content and data
• You grant us a limited license to use your content solely to provide the Service
• You represent that you have the right to share all content you upload
• CoupleChord owns all intellectual property rights in the Service itself

8. Data Security

While we implement reasonable security measures (see the Privacy Policy for details), you acknowledge that:

• No internet-based service can guarantee 100% security
• You are responsible for maintaining secure access to your account
• We may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance or security updates

9. Termination

Either party may terminate these Terms:

• You may delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete Account) or via our account deletion page
• We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms
• We may discontinue the Service with 30 days' notice
• Upon termination, your right to use the Service immediately ceases

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

• We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the past 12 months
• We are not responsible for third-party content or services
• Some jurisdictions may not allow these limitations

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CoupleChord and the people who build it from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. International Users

Your data is processed on infrastructure that may be located outside your country (see the Privacy Policy). You are responsible for compliance with your local laws when using the Service.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the app before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
